Event Review: Consistent Performance

In September 2026, Xiamen Honglu went to Shanghai and Jiangsu to host the Wire EDM Skills Competition. The team oversaw the registration, tracking and evaluation of 25 participating contestants and organizations.

On September 21, 2026, following assessment by Xiamen Honglu’s judging panel, Zhang Zhaolong from Kunshan, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province was awarded the honorary title of Legend of Wire EDM. He achieved a cutting efficiency of 10,941 mm?/h with wire electrode wear of 0.02 mm.

On the same day, Xiamen Honglu held an exchange seminar and award ceremony in Yueqing. At the event, the company announced a dedicated live stream featuring Zhang Zhaolong, the "Legend of Wire EDM", to reenact the full competition process.

Special Live Stream: Reenacting the Legend

On September 22, 2026, the Xiamen Honglu team arrived at Mr. Zhang’s factory in Kunshan, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province and kicked off the live reenactment at 08:30 local time. After preparatory work including workpiece loading and wire threading, the competing machine officially started cutting at 09:09. The planned cutting area was 297,000 mm?, and the initial wire diameter was measured at φ0.181 mm.

Three special live sessions were arranged: 08:30 and 17:30 on September 22, and 13:30 on September 23. Over 700 Wire EDM practitioners watched and interacted during the live broadcast.

Responding to questions raised by online viewers, Cai Xieyong, Senior Engineer of Xiamen Honglu, together with the Head of the Local Distribution Center, carried out live on-site technical calculations.

Calculations based on the actual operating conditions at Mr. Zhang’s factory showed that preventing a single wire breakage could save him 180 RMB in costs!

At 13:54 on September 23, after 1,725 minutes of stable cutting, Zhang Zhaolong finished the specified 297,000 mm? machining task. The wire diameter was measured at φ0.165 mm. The final result of the reenactment was a cutting efficiency of 10,344 mm?/h and wire electrode wear of 0.016 mm, consistent with the expected performance from the original competition.
